Tastes like Chicken

Tonight we introduced chicken to James's diet! We cooked it with sweet potato and then pureed it. The result? He's not a fan. Which, did not amuse us as we had bought him his own special organic chicken for the occasion. We made a large batch, so either he's going to keep trying it until he likes it, or Mark and I are going to be eating pureed chicken and sweet potato all week!

We also tried to get him to feed himself (see the third picture, that's a bowl that suctions to the table). We don't have pictures of the disaster that ensued. Let's just say a bath was involved and we will be going back to spoon-feeding for now.

We've been trying to introduce baby sign to help James communicate before he can speak (it's supposed to reduce frustration and temper tantrums that result from toddlers being unable to effectively communicate what they need/want). He hasn't signed anything back yet, though he has his own "sign" language for a few things - banging on the table means "more", and opening his mouth wide means "feed me." Pretty universal! However, looking at the third picture, it almost looks like he's signing "bird"! Hmmm, making signs at the camera...has he been hanging out with Aunt Erin?! ;)

  1. Between your pureed chicken mix and my pureed beef stew, we could have a delicious dinner we could drink with a straw! :)
