Crawling

James has been "crawling" since December, but he's now broken out into a full-blown across-the-room-and-into-everything crawl. After one day of chasing him down every time he neared the 3 steps by the front door, we decided to go get a gate. Thanks to the architect who designed these townhouses, there is only one model gate that fits these stairs, and it requires an extra gate extender piece to fit across the angled stairwell. I'm convinced it's a conspiracy between the gate manufacturers and the architects!

Anyway, we never thought we'd be the baby-jail-type parents, but here's the little bear shaking the cage rails...As a bonus, it also keeps Sammy the Moose a safe distance from the front door and allows us to answer the door in relative peace.

Here's the little guy crawling after a ball (that's actually a baby toy...though we're having toy mix-up issues around here...Sammy likes to chase James's toys and retreive them, and James likes to chew on Sammy's toys. Gross! It's keeping us on our toes).

Yes, it's the middle of January and you can see in the picture that our Christmas ornaments aren't put away! His crawling did prompt us to clean up piles of stuff, though, because it was the only way to keep him from getting into them! Notice the book he was drawn to? Clearly at a young age he already understands the humor of Marley and Me! What a dog lover!

And, here's an attempt at a video upload. I'll have to learn to not turn the camera sideways!
