Playroom Makeover

I really wish we had taken some true "before" pictures back before Kate and I painted this room in 2006. Or when it was cluttered with junk to the point I had to literally climb over things to get to my desk. But here it is, uncluttered, before we ripped up the rest of the ugly, stinky green carpet. We had been wanting to do this project for several years. When Costco had the maple laminate flooring on sale, we took a deep breath and decided to go for it! What a difference it made! No more worrying what germs James was getting from the carpet. It brightened the room and made picking up pet hair so easy! Even the cats appreciate their new "table" where they can sit and look out the window. Don't be surprised if next time you are over we insist on showing you our playroom/office/gym room complete with the biggest babygate ever separating the playroom from the office/gym. I think we could win some sort of award for getting so much to fit in a relatively small space. After doing the flooring in 2 rooms of our house (and really, this one had a hallway, too, so maybe it's more like 3!) we think we are becoming DIY-flooring experts. If anyone needs help with a similar project or needs to borrow some tools, let us know! As far as DIY projects, this one really isn't that bad (don't talk to us about the kitchen cabinet DIY project - that one continues to be a sore subject!) and we saved a lot of money doing it ourselves!
