Goodbye Sammy, Hello Shamu!

Daddy's been at his new job over 5 months, and since he only took 3 days off when the little guy was born, we decided to take some time off and drive to Orlando (dropping Sammy off at a country kennel, 4 playdates per day included, along the way). We were a little nervous driving so far with a 5 month-old baby (we were fully prepared to find a hotel on the way if needed), but we drove overnight and he slept most of the trip, just waking up to eat and get his diaper changed. It was cheaper and much easier (brought the Pack 'n Play, travel swing, stroller, toys, books, etc) than flying! Nana and Granddad gave us their timeshare week, so we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with a full kitchen and washer and dryer! It was definitely a great way to vacation with a baby (and Mommy says way better than sleeping in a tent on an air mattress all week, which we did on our 2007 vacation, and while sharing a house on Cape Cod with about 20 other people on our 2008 vacation was fun, it was really nice to have a quiet week by ourselves this year!).

Before we left, we decided to get season passes to Busch Gardens, since they would include admission to Sea World and free parking. It was definitely worth it, as we could go for a few hours each day and not spend $12 each time ($20 for preferred parking, which we got included, useful when we forgot something in the car!).

No Disney this year, we decided it would be wasted on a 5 month-old (especially if we didn't spend the whole day at the park), so we'll save our never-expire leftover visits we bought in 2006 for another year. I'm sure whenever that is we'll be glad we saved them!

Here we are looking at fish.

After a visit to the waterpark.

We used SPF 50 sunscreen and returned home just about as pale as when we left.
